Isothermal Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology (INAAT)

Genometc® SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP/N Laboratory Kit uses INAAT for amplification of nucleic acids, where the primers design and reagent assay composition ensure superb diagnostic performance. At Genomtec we have made a strategic decision to exploit early on in our development process one of the INAAT methods, i.e. LAMP (Loop-mediated Nucleic Acid Amplification)

Competitive advantage of LAMP method at Genomtec® SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP product line:

  • offers much shorter amplification cycles due to the nature of enzymes and primers employed for the reaction
  • provides extremely high diagnostic precision and accuracy
  • no heat-cooling cycles performed on your standard RealTime-PCR machine therefore the energy consumption with increased workflow throughput dramatically decreases
  • can be fully deployed on any standard RealTime-PCR instruments that is calibrated and equipped in FAM channel

The key features distinguishing RT-LAMP assay from standard RT-PCR include among others:

  •  A specific sequence on the targeted gene is being recognised by at least four primers identifying six or more distinct regions of the amplicon therefore providing high level of product confidence;
  • The reaction takes place under constant temperature (isothermal condition) with simultaneous revers transcribing (RNA into cDNA) and targeted gene cDNA amplification;
  • Amplification rate is extremely high (but not exponential) therefore reaction plateau is appearing quickly;
  • The total cost can be reduced, as RT-LAMP shortens time-to-result, and therefore improves diagnostic laboratory workflow.


The future – Genomtec ID platform

Building on commercial success of Genomtec® SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP kits we are committed to further industrialisation of our complete platform, Genomtec ID, where the SARS-CoV-2 assays will be used as component in our diagnostic panels enclosed onto the microfluidic reaction card (with other assays under development).

Genomtec ID IVD platform compromises of three key elements:

  1. The miniaturised reaction card,
  2. Molecular genetic assay (in SNAAT®) build-in onto the card, and
  3. The Analyser (IVD device) that is mobile (hand-held) due to lack of typical components associated with PCR instruments (i.e .thermal cycling blocks and advanced optics).
